Dripping Springs Apple & Fig Tartines
It doesn’t get any more local then these fab apple & fig tartines. For this month’s recipe I had the pleasure of touring our local goat farm Pure Luck Dairy & seeing how these amazing goat cheese products are produced. Read Local Foodie Corner for more about this farm family of Dripping Springs.
Tartines are a quick way to impress your guests with your culinary swag. An appetizer that pairs wonderfully with wine for an intimate gathering of four or a larger party.
All the ingredients in this recipe except for the apples were produced in Austin. I love when that happens!! A marriage of all the right locally sourced goodness.
Special to a neighbor Paul Klingensmith for his homemade fresh baked sourdough bread. A big thanks to our community for helping me create this dish with your hard work & love!!!
Remember to always cook with love and eat with more JOY!!!
- 4Slices Fresh Baked Sourdough
- 4Tbsp Pure Luck June's Joy Goat Cheese
- 1/2 Gala Apples
- 2 Local Texan Figs
- 1/4Cup Austin Maple Walnuts
- 1Tbsp Black Bear Farm Honey
- 1Dash Pepper
- Slice 4 slices of bread & toast light. Use fresh baked bread even if store bought. Option #2 you can grill bread with a dash of olive oil.
- While bread is toasting slice apples & figs.
- Toast maple walnuts in a frying pan or oven. Don’t burn the walnuts as they heat up quickly.
- I prefer white platters for this dish to allow the tartines to pop. Lay out the four slices of bread on a cutting board. Spread June’s Joy goat cheese and drizzle honey.
- Next lay fruit down as in picture. Add cracked pepper. Under the apples I placed some wild arugula.
- Add walnuts. Last add some more honey drizzled. Don’t use a heavy hand on the honey as it’s a layering technique. Cook with love & eat with JOY!!!
